World vision has launched “ENOUGH” campaign to end child hunger and malnutrition. The campaign aims to provide sustainable solutions to ensure every child has access to nutritious food for their well-being and development. The campaign, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal Zero Hunger, is set to make a significant impact over the next three years.

The campaign, spanning three years, aims to provide ethical and sustainable access to nutritious food for every child, regardless of background or circumstance.

The  First Lady of the Republic of Kenya Rachel Ruto lauded World Vision for the initiative, noting that advocating for enough nutritious food for every child, both at home and in school, through ethical and sustainable sourcing is commendable.

“There’s no greater indignity than children attending school hungry. We’ve made significant strides, reducing stunting from 26% in 2014 to 18% in 2022. Overall, nutrition has improved. Yet, 847,000 Kenyan children under five face acute malnutrition, down 14.5% from 2023. We must unite to scale interventions in food security, health, nutrition, and finance to reach our goal of less than 5% childhood wasting by 2025.” H.E Rachel Ruto said.

Board Chair of World Vision Kenya,Dr. David Githanga,  emphasizes the urgency of addressing child hunger, citing the devastating effects of climate change and conflict on food security. With over 13 billion Kenyan shillings invested in 2023 and collaborative efforts with governmental agencies and NGOs.

However National Director Gilbert Kamanga noted that more needs to be done to address the malnutrition challenge in the country. “No child in Kenya. should die from hunger and malnutrition. We are intensifying our advocacy and collaboration efforts to work with government, partners and communities to develop and implement sustainable solutions. We must prioritise awareness, community resilience, and long-term strategies to address the root cause of hunger.” Kamanga said.

World Vision Kenya is committed to implementing sustainable solutions and raising awareness about the issue of child hunger. As Kenya gears towards universal coverage of the school meals program by 2030, the ENOUGH campaign aligns with government initiatives to strengthen efficiency and accountability mechanisms.

By prioritizing community resilience, climate-smart agriculture, and long-term strategies, World Vision Kenya aims to create a future where no child goes to school hungry. The campaign’s launch marks a pivotal moment in the fight against child hunger, uniting stakeholders in a collective effort to build a brighter and more equitable future for generations to come.
