Naivasha, Kenya, November 1, 2025 -Kenya has once again taken the spotlight on the continental stage, emerging victorious at the 2025 African Best Young Driver (ABYD) Finals held at the WRC Service Park in Naivasha.
The thrilling competition brought together national champions from Kenya, South Africa, and Botswana, all showcasing their driving skills and commitment to road safety. After an action-packed day, Kenya’s Victor Maina Kabura clinched the top title, bringing pride and excitement to the host nation.
The finals featured six unique driving tests designed to measure not just technical ability but also composure, judgment, and road safety awareness. Contestants faced challenges such as emergency tire change, braking avoidance, bowl slalom, damage reduction parcours, off-road terrain handling, and roll car stability — all simulating real-life driving situations.
“The African Best Young Driver competition is about shaping responsible drivers, not chasing speed,” said Daniel Kiprono, Head of the AA Kenya Driving School. “It’s a platform that equips youth with both confidence and discipline behind the wheel.”
AA Kenya CEO Francis Theuri commended the participants for their exceptional performance and reaffirmed Kenya’s leadership in promoting road safety across Africa.
