Salim Mvurya Confirms Timely Completion of Talanta Sports City.

Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary for Youth, Creative Economy and Sports, inspected Talanta Sports City today and expressed confidence in its completion in December 2025 ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“This stadium, designed for 60,000 spectators, will significantly improve Kenya’s football and rugby facilities while boosting sports infrastructure nationally,” Mvurya said during the visit. He praised progress, highlighting advances such as lighting installations and the development of terraces, VIP areas and other amenities, promising a world-class fan experience.

Addressing concerns about maintenance, Mvurya assured the public of a solid government plan to maintain the sports infrastructure. He noted the challenges of shared use between soccer and track and field, and emphasized strategies to keep the facilities in top condition for all users.

The project has already created over 2,000 jobs, mainly for Kenyan youth. Mvurya emphasized that this employment drive demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering young people through large-scale development projects such as Talanta Sports City.

During the visit, Mvurya also reviewed preparations at other stadiums, including Kasarani, to ensure readiness for AFCON 2025. He emphasized that dedicated monitoring teams will ensure that all facilities meet international standards ahead of the tournament.

Mvurya stated that Talanta Sports City represents a historic milestone in Kenya’s sports development and will leave a lasting legacy for future generations. He reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering a facility that meets global expectations.
