Huawei Kenya, Equity Group Foundation, and the Open University of Kenya (OUK) have launched the Huawei ICT Academy at Konza Technopolis. The initiative aims to equip over 10,000 learners with digital skills in key sectors like health, agriculture, and fintech.
Located at Kenya’s premier smart city, the academy will strengthen OUK’s role in future-ready education. Additionally, it supports Kenya’s Digital Superhighway under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The academy will offer flexible online courses in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity. Students will earn dual certifications from OUK and Huawei, improving their job prospects. A Virtual Innovation Hub will also allow learners to develop tech solutions for real-world challenges.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to Kenya’s digital growth,” said Gavin Gao, CEO of Huawei Kenya. “By setting up at Konza, we align with the country’s innovation goals.”
The program also supports digital health through Equity Group Foundation’s telemedicine services. These efforts aim to improve healthcare access in remote areas.
