Rusinga School marked its 50th anniversary with a strong message of growth, innovation and Christian grounding as the institution celebrated five decades of learning and transformation. The school leadership said the golden jubilee was not only a moment to honour its rich history, but also a turning point toward a future shaped by technology, artificial intelligence and deeper community impact.

Head Teacher Mr. Juma M. Nyamori said the celebrations held a special meaning because the school was marking Christmas and its 50-year journey at the same time. He described the moment as a milestone for the entire Rusinga community, which continues to evolve while holding firmly to the founding Christian values.

Mr. Nyamori, who has served at Rusinga for 17 years, said he had witnessed immense growth across the institution. He praised the founders, Dr. Jacob Mwangi and Mrs. Rose Mwangi, for building a school rooted in a strong Christian foundation, academic excellence and vibrant co-curricular programmes. He said their vision remained clear, heavy with responsibility and deeply inspiring.

He said the school now stands on a solid path, with clear focus and a growing agenda. As part of its 50-year reflection, the school has reimagined its future and placed technology at the centre of its next phase. He said educational technology and artificial intelligence will shape the next chapter of Rusinga, positioning the school as a leader in innovation and design.

Mr. Nyamori revealed that Rusinga is building an innovation centre that will serve both the school and the wider community. He said the role of leaders and staff is to guide this vision as it expands beyond the school’s current boundaries in the next 50 years.

He credited Rusinga’s progress to humility, prayer and a strong organizational structure. He said the board of directors and school management have remained clear and structured, which allows plans to flow smoothly. He also paid tribute to former headteachers who laid the foundation for international accreditation and helped strengthen the school’s commitment to technology and innovation.

Looking ahead, Mr. Nyamori said he envisions greater impact, including expansion beyond the current Gitanga Road campus. He said the proposed Rusinga Leadership Center will offer support to Christian-led institutions, family-founded schools and organizations seeking strong governance models. He believes it will anchor Rusinga’s influence and help spread the school’s approach to leadership and family-led business models.

On technology, he said students are leading the transformation. He revealed that learners created an artificial intelligence platform that has gained interest from other organizations. The platform offers round-the-clock learning, gives students access to teachers from anywhere in the world and provides opportunities for the school to support communities beyond its walls. He said the innovation hub is also taking shape, growing steadily and holding great promise for future learning.

Prep School Head Mr. Julius Karanja, who has served the school for 27 years, said the innovation hub is one of the most exciting projects under the CIS Accreditation process. He said it will be a space for creators, innovators and institutions to build solutions and grow ideas. The project, expected to take five years to fully complete, has the necessary foundation in place and aims to transform the edtech space.

Mr. Karanja said education is shifting fast due to AI, innovation and technology. He said the future of learning will not be conservative, as students now use devices for research, projects and problem-solving. He said the school is embracing the flipped classroom model, where learners take charge of their learning as teachers guide them. He said this approach reflects the growing importance of student agency in an AI-driven education future.

Rusinga School’s 50-year journey now moves into a new season filled with bold ideas, deep Christian values and an ambitious technological vision that aims to shape students, families and communities for decades to come.
