NAIROBI, Kenya – August 14, 2025 — Airtel Africa Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa plc, has launched the Tech For Her program to equip women with high-demand digital skills and open doors to global tech careers.

The program targets young women aged 18 to 40 across Kenya, Zambia, and Uganda. Participants will receive training in Linux Administration, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics. The goal is to prepare them for competitive tech opportunities worldwide.

Delivered in partnership with Tertiary DNS, the five-week intensive online program will offer over 100 hours of training. A flexible schedule includes weekend classes for working professionals and weekday sessions for those not in employment.

To qualify, applicants must have basic digital literacy and at least a national diploma or equivalent in Science and Technology. Higher qualifications are also accepted.

Graduates will benefit from 12 months of continuous skill development. Top performers scoring 90% or higher will qualify for internships at Airtel Africa and structured mentorship from technology industry leaders.

Airtel Africa Foundation Chair, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, emphasized the importance of gender equity in Africa’s digital revolution.

“The Tech For Her program levels the playing field by providing women with industry-relevant skills, mentorship, and pathways to high-growth tech roles. By investing in Africa’s women, we are investing in sustainable economic transformation,” he said.

The foundation has committed to reserving 30% of training slots for women in rural and underserved communities, and 40% for applicants from low-income households.

According to UNESCO, women make up only 30% of tech professionals in sub-Saharan Africa and hold just 2–8% of software development roles.

Airtel Africa Foundation committee member Annika Poutiainen said the program is about building a strong future pipeline of women in tech.

“We are committed to a future where young women are at the forefront of innovation. This initiative will help unlock vast digital opportunities both in Africa and globally,” she said.

Applications close on August 21, 2025. Interested participants can apply via their country-specific Airtel websites:
