Nairobi, October 14, 2025 — Building in Kenya just got smarter.

Jumba, Africa’s largest digital marketplace for construction materials, has launched the Jumba App, a groundbreaking innovation designed to make sourcing building materials simple, transparent, and reliable.

For decades, homeowners, developers, and contractors across Kenya have faced the same frustrations inconsistent prices, unreliable suppliers, and delayed deliveries. But with the new Jumba App, those challenges could soon be a thing of the past.

“With just a few taps, users can access verified suppliers, compare real-time prices, and order everything they need from cement to tiles all in one trusted platform,” said Kagure Wamunyu, CEO and Co-Founder of Jumba, during the launch event held at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi.

She emphasized that the company’s goal is to bring ease and trust into the construction process. “Our mission is simple to make building easy. Whether you’re a developer managing multiple projects, a homeowner building your first house, or a Kenyan in the diaspora constructing a home back home, Jumba gives you confidence that what you order is what you get on time and at the right price,” she said.

The launch brought together top industry leaders, government representatives, and major suppliers including Crown Paints, Tuff Steel, Tononoka, Jumbo Steel, Comply Industries, Abyssinia, Mzito, National Cement, Dewalt, Blue Nile, and Bamburi Cement. The mood was vibrant and full of optimism as players in the construction sector witnessed a new era in digital sourcing.

A Digital Revolution for Builders

The Jumba App promises to transform how builders source and manage materials by offering transparent pricing, verified suppliers, and reliable delivery. Users can compare prices instantly, order materials in minutes, and track deliveries in real time — a move expected to save both time and money.

According to Wamunyu, the app will first be available in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area before expanding to all 47 counties. “The Jumba App is not just a tool it’s a movement,” she said. “It’s about giving every Kenyan access to fair prices, quality materials, and reliable delivery, whether they’re building one room or an entire estate.”

Why It Matters

The launch comes at a time when Kenya’s construction sector is rapidly growing, driven by urban expansion and rising housing demand. As mobile phone use increases across the country, the app provides a convenient solution for builders on the go.

With the Jumba App, users can order materials anytime, anywhere cutting out the need to chase multiple quotes or visit several hardware stores. The platform promotes fairness by displaying real-time prices and ensuring all suppliers are verified. Integrated logistics and delivery tracking also help projects stay on schedule, reducing costly delays.

Transforming the Way Africa Builds

Founded in 2022, Jumba began as a B2B platform connecting developers and contractors with trusted suppliers of structural materials. It has since evolved into a comprehensive B2C marketplace, bringing the same reliability and convenience to individual home builders.

Jumba was born from a simple yet powerful truth: 90 percent of homes in Africa are built, not bought. Yet, the construction supply chain has remained fragmented and opaque. By digitizing the process, Jumba is changing that — making it more transparent, affordable, and efficient for everyone.

“Jumba is building more than just an app,” Wamunyu concluded. “We’re building trust, efficiency, and opportunity. We’re creating a smarter way for Africa to build.”

With the Jumba App, Kenya’s construction industry is stepping into a new digital era one where builders can focus less on logistics and more on turning their dreams into reality.
