Dr Catherine Masitsa.
Elegant, outspoken, and unapologetically fierce, Dr Catherine Masitsa has never been one to shy away from the spotlight.
After making her mark on The Real Housewives of Nairobi, the Queen Mother is now flying the Kenyan flag in the upcoming Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa. The new Showmax crossover brings together some of the continent’s most dynamic housewives for a luxury adventure in Brazil.
In an exclusive interview, Dr C opens up about the experience, from the thrill of the call to the shock reunion with Zena.
She describes the invitation as electrifying. A luxurious, all-expenses-paid escape to Brazil felt like a dream. Representing Kenya alongside powerful African women made the moment even bigger. She admits she worried about potential drama, especially since she did not know any of the cast. Her plan was simple: stay true, stay polite but firm, and look for genuine connections in the chaos. Focusing on the once-in-a-lifetime experience helped her stay grounded.
RHUGT-Africa also marks her first meeting with Zena since their explosive clash in The Real Housewives of Nairobi Season 2. Dr C says she had no idea Zena would be there. The shock almost made her pass out. The emotions came rushing back instantly. She chose peace and whispered, “Tutaenda nyumbani Kenya tukapigane huko tafadhali, sio hapa.”
She says the two are now able to hold calm, sensible conversations. They finally listen to each other without shouting. Dr C believes Zena now understands that the conflict was never personal. Her fight was against harmful behavior such as body-shaming and the old, dangerous habit of calling women witches. She respects Zena’s growth but remains firm in her stand against normalizing such actions.
After the turbulence of RHON Season 2, Dr C sought therapy. She says the constant negativity, emotional pressure, and personal attacks took a heavy toll. She needed to pause, reflect, and process everything. Therapy became a journey of introspection, self-awareness, and emotional growth. She learned her triggers, practiced calm responses, and protected her energy. This, she says, prepared her mentally for the Ultimate Girls Trip.
While in Brazil, she formed strong connections. Her bond with Madam Evoria from Johannesburg stands out. They speak often about children, business, and family life. Dr C says their conflicts were even enjoyable because they handled them with maturity and respect. She describes Evoria as principled while she herself is formidable, a combination that created a powerful friendship. They are already planning mutual visits.
She also connected with Mariam from Lagos, who she describes as calm and balanced. They may not talk often, but they follow each other closely on social media and continue to support each other.
Asked to describe the season using one emoji, Dr C chooses the explosion emoji.
She says she would join the show again without hesitation. Her bags, she jokes, are already packed. She believes the producers know how to create good television by bringing together African powerhouse women. “They will need me back,” she says, “and I am ready to deliver.”
Dr C promises Kenyans an unforgettable show. She calls the experience “Malindi on steroids.” On RHON, viewers mostly saw the business mogul who commanded every room. In Brazil, they will meet a more spontaneous, carefree, and unfiltered version of her.
She says the freedom of the trip brought out a fun-loving energy that Nairobi rarely captured. There was dancing on tables, carnival vibes, and wild, joyful moments. She wants fans to forget the calm wine tastings of Nairobi. This trip was louder, hotter, and far more adventurous. Even a pole-dancing moment in a party bus made it into the mix, a symbol of letting go and living fully in the spirit of African sisterhood.
