Huawei Technologies (Kenya) through its Women in Technology Huawei Kenya (WITH) initiative, partnered with the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) to host the inaugural Girls in Tech Career Fair. The event, which was exclusively for young women pursuing STEM-related courses, revolved around the theme: Empowering Women Leaders through Access to New Career Pathways, Growth Opportunities and Tech Innovation for Social Impact.

Guided by the mantra “Tech for Her, Tech by Her, Tech with Her”, the WITH initiative underscores Huawei’s commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusion in the technology sector. Through this programme, Huawei actively supports the increased participation and contribution of women in the technology industry and the broader digital economy.

The career fair focused on mentorship, networking, skills development, and Huawei’s industry impact. It also highlighted technology applications and continuous learning.

Dr. Agnes Mindila, Director at JKUAT’s School of Computing, praised the collaboration. She said, “Women in Tech mentors support female STEM students. Initiatives like this fair prepare them for success, encourage leadership, and inspire technical excellence. We value Huawei’s guidance on career opportunities and skills.”

Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women in technology to build an inclusive digital society. “Women are essential to the tech industry,” the company said, noting that more female participation drives global innovation.

Maureen Mwaniki, Director of Women in Technology at Huawei Kenya, urged attendees to embrace tech opportunities. “The future of technology is bright. Your role is crucial. Huawei Kenya supports women through mentorship, skills development, and empowerment. Together, let’s innovate and build a connected world.”

This initiative reflects Huawei’s efforts to close the gender gap in STEM and strengthen its commitment to diversity and inclusion in tech.
