Nairobi – Wiper Party leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka on Friday delivered a blistering speech at the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) Special National Delegates Conference (NDC), accusing State House of bribery and declaring that the incoming opposition government’s first action will be to abolish the Housing Levy.

Addressing delegates at Ufungamano Hall, Kalonzo said Kenyans had suffered long enough under a regime he described as corrupt, exploitative, and disconnected from the plight of ordinary citizens.

“This government has perfected corruption and propaganda while families are sinking under heavy taxation,” Kalonzo said to loud applause. “The very first Executive Order of the incoming government will abolish the punitive Housing Levy. Kenyans deserve relief, not exploitation.”

He also affirmed that the Mt. Kenya region could not be divided, warning those in power against attempts to sow discord in the opposition strongholds. Kalonzo reminded Kenyans of the lives lost under the current regime, urging the nation to honor their memory by demanding justice and accountability.

The Wiper leader further called on Kenyans across the country to register as voters, stressing that liberation would only be realized through the ballot. “No one should sit back. Every Kenyan must register to vote if we truly want to reclaim our republic,” he urged.

The conference also marked a historic moment for PLP, as delegates unanimously endorsed Hon. Martha Karua as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. Karua struck a bold tone, promising to return leadership to the people within a single transformative term.

“I only need one term to restore integrity, end impunity, and return leadership to the people,” Karua declared. “This is not about PLP. It is about Kenya about mothers who want their children to dream again, youth who demand dignified work, and millions who yearn for a government that serves, not exploits.”

Karua accused the regime of betrayal through corruption and impunity, vowing that her presidency would restore justice, protect professionals, deliver universal healthcare, revive agriculture, and empower small and medium enterprises.

She also echoed Kalonzo’s message of unity, insisting that opposition leaders must forge a broad front to dismantle what she called the “machinery of oppression.” “This is the moment to forge a broad front,” Karua said. “We are one people, one purpose, one term.”

The NDC ratified sweeping reforms to strengthen PLP, including the creation of three Deputy Party Leader positions and a 16-member Shadow Cabinet to act as a government-in-waiting.
