New Drama Qutu Lights Up Maisha Magic Plus This December

Maisha Magic Plus has unveiled its newest original drama, Qutu, which premiered on 1st December 2025 to eager viewers.
The series follows Daniel Ziwanda (Yusuf Ali, Utandu), a young man who leaves his rural home and his pregnant girlfriend, Frida, to chase success in the city. Life gets tough, but everything changes when a wealthy woman steps in and helps him rise into a respected businessman known as Colonel Ziwanda.
Years later, Frida’s failing health and her son Ray’s discovery of old love letters expose secrets Daniel buried long ago. Ray (Nelson Mandela, Sultana) begins a determined search for the father he never met. His reunion with Colonel Ziwanda shakes the life Daniel built and ignites tension, jealousy, and suspicion — especially when Sauda uncovers the truth.
Qutu features a strong cast that includes Mercy Kidiwa (Tehanani), Missy Ally (Tehanani), John Mbura (Mkasi), newcomers Mixollis Kobogenza, and popular TikToker Aisha Mohammed.
Producers Mwanamisi Ally and John Mbura — the creative minds behind Tehanani — team up once again under Rambu Media and Atiza Productions. Lawrence Lector directs the drama, with writing by Fakii Kasoloi.
“Qutu tells a powerful story about love, sacrifice, and the search for truth,” said producer Mwanamisi Ally. “It mirrors society, where secrets and stigma can break families, yet redemption remains possible.”
Director Lector added: “We created a world that feels real and emotionally raw. Every character carries a truth they fear. I am proud of the team for bringing this story to life.”
Kenyans can catch the drama exclusively on Maisha Magic Plus (DStv Channel 163 and GOtv Channel 3), airing Monday to Friday at 7:30pm.
