A spirit of hope and collaboration filled the Kenyatta International Convention Centre today as WHX Nairobi 2025, East Africa’s most influential healthcare event, officially began. The three-day gathering, held under the patronage of Kenya’s Ministry of Health, seeks to transform the region’s healthcare systems by championing innovation that starts and ends with the patient.
Delegates from across the world gathered to share ideas, explore solutions, and imagine a healthier future. Dr. Yacine Hadjiat, Head of Innovation and Digital Health at Dubai Health, opened the conference by urging innovators to make patient experience their guiding principle. He said the future of healthcare depends on empathy-led design, disciplined innovation, and evidence-based thinking that truly meets the evolving needs of patients and systems.
Now in its seventh year, WHX Nairobi and its co-located partner event, WHX Labs Nairobi, have grown into a global platform where leaders, policymakers, and health professionals connect to shape the next era of care. The event is supported by the Ministry of Health Kenya, Africa CDC, Kenya Healthcare Federation, and the Kenya Medical Association, cementing Kenya’s reputation as a regional hub for healthcare innovation and a strong advocate for Universal Health Coverage.
This year’s edition has drawn more than 8,000 visitors, 300 exhibitors, and over 65 international speakers from 20 countries. From advanced diagnostic systems to digital health breakthroughs, exhibitors such as Beckman Coulter, Snibe Diagnostic, Randox, and Radiometer are unveiling technologies that promise to make healthcare more inclusive and efficient.
For many participants, the event is both an inspiration and a learning opportunity. “The sessions on digital health and laboratory innovation offered invaluable insights into the next decade of medical practice,” said Valerie Rading, Business Strategist and Project Consultant at VR Consulting. Her enthusiasm reflected the mood of many attendees eager to apply new ideas within their own institutions.

Over the next three days, experts will explore critical themes in healthcare policy, digital transformation, and primary care. Attendees will earn up to 15 CPD points through specialised conferences and workshops. WHX Labs Nairobi, formerly Medlab East Africa, continues to provide laboratory professionals with an essential space to learn, collaborate, and discover innovations in diagnostics, microbiology, and genomics.
This year also marks the launch of two groundbreaking initiatives. The first, Women 50/50, led by Philana Mugyenyi, promotes gender balance in healthcare leadership through mentorship and training. The second, Leaders in Healthcare, supported by President William Ruto and the Ministry of Health, brings together ministers, policymakers, and global experts to accelerate investment and strategic transformation in the health sector.
Beyond medical advancements, WHX Nairobi is setting an example for sustainable event practices. Organisers have embraced eco-friendly measures such as digital badges, recycled signage, and a circular waste management system. The Sustainable Stand Awards will recognise exhibitors who integrate green design into their displays, underscoring WHX’s global commitment to environmental responsibility across its 15 worldwide editions.
As WHX Nairobi 2025 continues, it stands as more than a conference. It is a meeting of minds and hearts, a place where innovation meets empathy, and where every idea shared moves the continent closer to a future where healthcare truly serves humanity.
The conference runs until October 24 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi. Registration is open at worldhealthexpo.com for those ready to be part of East Africa’s healthcare transformation.
