A wave of support is sweeping across Kenya as women leaders and human rights organizations unite to defend Chief Justice Martha Koome and the judiciary against what they call malicious and dangerous attacks.
In a strong statement, the women condemned efforts to undermine the judiciary and warned that such actions threaten the rule of law and democracy. They urged Kenyans of goodwill to reject attempts to discredit the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court, saying the attacks were politically motivated and aimed at destabilizing the judiciary.
“We call on the petitioners to withdraw their case seeking the removal of Chief Justice Koome and the judges of the Supreme Court. These attacks are not only against an individual but against the judiciary as an institution,” the statement said.

The women expressed deep concern over the growing trend of targeting women leaders, especially those in top decision-making positions. They noted that Koome’s rise to head one of Kenya’s three branches of government was a historic achievement, yet she now faces constant harassment and abuse.
“It is disturbing that every time a woman rises to a position of power, there are efforts to bring her down. This is unacceptable,” they said.
They urged female leaders, including governors, senators, MPs and MCAs, to stand in solidarity against what they called an orchestrated campaign to silence and intimidate women in leadership.
Citing the biblical story of Esther, they reminded women that remaining silent in the face of oppression is not an option. They warned that attacks on the judiciary could set a dangerous precedent and undermine democracy and justice for all Kenyans.
The women called on the public to respect the independence of the judiciary, emphasizing its critical role in protecting citizens’ rights and upholding the constitution. They vowed to continue to fight against injustice and gender discrimination in leadership.
