UDPK Expands Drive for Disability Inclusion.

CEO Sally Nduta delivers a powerful speech at Sarova Panafric, Nairobi, on February 5, 2025.

The United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK) is pushing forward with an ambitious plan to expand its reach and impact. Chief Executive Officer, Sally Nduta announced that the organization, already active in 30 counties, aims to extend its presence to 17 more within the next five years.

Speaking during a reflection session, Nduta highlighted UDPK’s success in strengthening organizations of persons with disabilities, empowering them to advocate for their rights and engage policymakers. She noted that more individuals now feel confident pushing for inclusion in development decisions.

Despite financial hurdles and external disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic, UDPK has remained resilient, adapting through technology and strategic partnerships. While a potential collaboration with USAID was put on hold due to shifting U.S. policies, Nduta remained optimistic about forging new alliances.

A key priority for UDPK is breaking down societal and structural barriers that limit opportunities for persons with disabilities. The organization continues to push for workplace inclusion, urging employers to create accessible job opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Through workshops and community engagements, UDPK is also working to change perceptions about disability, eliminate stigma, and promote an inclusive society. With a clear roadmap and a renewed commitment to advocacy, the organization is determined to transform lives. As Nduta emphasized, achieving full inclusion requires collective effort, and UDPK is ready to lead the charge.
