Kenya’s Bold Plan for Peace & Inclusion.

Kenya has launched a transformative National Action Plan (NAP) to empower its youth as leaders in peace and unity, led by global peacebuilding organization Search for Common Gronds (SFCG’s).

Government officials, activists, and youth groups have gathered in Nairobi to fast-track the initiative, aiming to position young Kenyans as catalysts for national cohesion. The plan builds on global efforts, aligning with the UN’s 2015 Resolution 2250, which recognizes youth as key partners in peacebuilding.

Young people make up the majority of the population, becomes the seventh African nation to adopt such a strategy, signaling a pivotal moment for the country’s future.

NAP focuses on five pillars: participation, protection, partnerships, reintegration, and violence prevention. “Youth are not instruments of unrest—they are architects of peace,” said Judy Kimamo, SFCG’s Horn of Africa Director, stressing that their inclusion in politics and protection from exploitation are essential for Kenya’s stability.

To ensure inclusivity, the NAP brings together government agencies like the State Department for Youth and grassroots coalitions. Innovative tools like AI-driven consultations and digital platforms will gather input from youth across the country, ensuring their voices shape policies that directly impact their lives. Looking ahead, the plan addresses challenges such as rehabilitating youth in conflict zones and countering negative stereotypes.

“This isn’t just a document—it’s a roadmap for dignity and opportunity,” said a youth advocate. With Kenya’s 2027 elections approaching, stakeholders emphasize the urgency of embedding youth priorities in national dialogues.

NAP aims to transform marginalized youth into empowered leaders. Over the next two years, Kenya’s initiative stands as a beacon of hope, not only for the nation but as a model for global youth-driven peacebuilding.
