Advocate Faith Jappann M’edeal Mutua has officially joined the race for the Law Society of Kenya upcountry representative position for the 2026–2028 term.

Faith presented her nomination papers on Tuesday at the Law Society offices along Gitanga Road in Lavington, accompanied by fellow leaders and supporters.

The move marks the start of her bid to represent advocates practicing outside major urban centres.

Speaking after submitting her papers, Faith said her decision to vie was driven by the need to strengthen the voice of upcountry lawyers within the society.

She noted that advocates working outside major towns face distinct challenges that require strong, focused, and consistent representation.

Faith said the upcountry representative seat is vital in promoting equity, inclusion, and fair access to opportunities across the profession.

She pledged to champion the welfare of upcountry practitioners while pushing for policies that support professional growth and ethical practice.

Faith emphasized unity, accountability, and professionalism as the core pillars of her leadership agenda.

She said the Law Society of Kenya plays a critical role in defending the rule of law and must remain responsive to the needs of all its members, regardless of location.

Her nomination came as several other aspirants also presented their papers for various positions within the society.

The exercise signals the start of a competitive election season as candidates prepare to engage members across the country.

The upcountry representative position is considered key in ensuring regional balance within LSK leadership.

Faith said she is ready to offer firm, inclusive, and principled leadership if elected.

She expressed confidence that members will support a leadership approach built on listening, consultation, and delivery.

The Law Society of Kenya elections are expected to take place later this year after the nomination process closes.

The results will determine the leadership team set to guide the society through the 2026–2028 period.

As the race gains momentum, Faith’s entry adds to the growing list of candidates seeking to shape the future of Kenya’s legal profession.
