Kinangop Road Nears Completion as Residents Celebrate New Lifeline

April 16, 2025 – Residents of Kinangop Constituency have welcomed major progress in the construction of the Ndunyu Njeru–Kahuruko–Kwa Mbekenya road, terming it a long-awaited breakthrough that will transform movement, trade, and tourism in the region.

The road, now about 80 percent complete, is already raising hopes among locals who see it as a critical link within Kinangop and a gateway to neighboring Kipipiri. It is also expected to improve access to the Aberdare National Park, opening up new opportunities for tourism and investment.

Residents say work on the remaining section is progressing steadily, expressing confidence that the project will be delivered soon. They praised area Member of Parliament Hon. Kwenya Thuku for pushing the project forward, alongside support from the national government.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Bilhah Wanjiku Kanyago said the improved road will ease the daily burden of transporting farm produce, a challenge that has persisted for years due to poor infrastructure.

“This road will change everything for us. We will now access markets easily and transport our goods without delays,” she said.

Susan Wanjiru Muchai noted that the project goes beyond transport, describing it as a catalyst for economic growth. She said better access to the Aberdare region will attract visitors and create new income opportunities for local families.

“We are very grateful. This road is about growth. It will open our area to investors and improve livelihoods,” she said.

For many residents, the new road signals the end of years of isolation, especially during the rainy season when movement was often cut off. Now, optimism is growing that the improved infrastructure will unlock the area’s full potential.

The community has expressed appreciation to William Ruto and Hon. Kwenya Thuku for prioritizing the project, voicing hope that its completion will bring lasting change to Kinangop and beyond.
