Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has revealed that 17 million Kenyans have been registered under the new Social Health Insurance Fund (SHA), popularly known as Taifa Care.
During a visit to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), the Deputy President assured the public that the government is addressing challenges encountered during the transition from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to SHA. He emphasized that most issues have already been resolved, with ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare service delivery across the country.

“While most of the teething problems have been resolved, the government is committed to addressing any outstanding issues to ensure hospitals provide services efficiently and promptly,” Kindiki said.
Accompanied by Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa, the Deputy President toured KNH to assess the rollout of Taifa Care. He engaged with patients and healthcare workers, highlighting the government’s unwavering dedication to ensuring affordable and quality healthcare for all citizens.
The visit showcased the government’s commitment to a smooth transition and the effective implementation of SHA, promising hope for millions relying on the scheme for specialized medical care.
