Bundle Ya Deree: Safaricom’s Big Boost for Riders and Taxi Drivers.
By Peace Muthoka.
Nairobi, September 9, 2025 – For thousands of boda boda riders and taxi drivers battling rising fuel costs and shrinking profits, a new lifeline has arrived. Safaricom has unveiled Bundle Ya Deree and Ofa Ya Boda Boda, two packages designed to ease daily struggles and secure their future.
The offers go beyond cheap calls and data. They include free access to navigation and ride-hailing apps, keeping drivers connected as they hustle for trips.
More importantly, the bundles come with subsidized insurance to cushion operators from accidents, illness, or sudden loss of income. For riders who earn between KES 500 and KES 1,500 a day, such protection could mean the difference between survival and despair.

Safaricom is also investing in the future of operators through Safire Connect forums, where drivers and riders learn about road safety, financial planning, and entrepreneurship.
In partnership with Vivo Energy Kenya, taxi drivers will also enjoy Friday fuel discounts at Shell stations nationwide, giving them some relief from rising pump prices.
Kenya’s transport sector is a key pillar of the economy, contributing 4.4 percent to GDP in 2024. With more than 1.4 million registered motorcycles generating about KES 1 billion daily, the sector supports millions of livelihoods. Safaricom says its new offers are a way of helping operators work smarter, save more, and secure their tomorrow.
Riders can access Ofa Ya Boda Boda by dialing 5448#, while Bundle Ya Deree is available to taxi drivers on 5446#.
