Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke” Surprise Delights Travelers Ahead of Madaraka Day.

Passengers at Easy Coach and Jambojet terminals received an unforgettable Madaraka Day surprise this morning as Coca-Cola handed out personalized soda cans bearing their names. The heartwarming gesture, part of the brand’s iconic Share a Coke campaign, turned routine travel into a celebration of personal connections.

The campaign, which first launched in Kenya in 2011, has become a beloved tradition by replacing Coca-Cola’s classic logo with Kenyan names. This year’s edition brought a fresh Gen Z twist, blending physical activations with digital engagement across TikTok, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) under #ShareACoke. What began as a supermarket promotion has now expanded to unexpected locations, including one of Kenya’s busiest travel weekends.

Excitement filled the air at the Easy Coach terminal as passengers received their customized cans – one to keep and one to share. “I wasn’t expecting this at all. I feel honored!” exclaimed Ian, a traveler heading to Kisumu. Michael, an Easy Coach staff member, added: “This is my first time seeing my name on a Coke bottle – it feels really special!”

The surprises extended beyond bus terminals, with Coca-Cola partnering with Jambojet to delight air travelers flying to Mombasa, Ukunda, Malindi and Kisumu. The activations created a ripple effect of joy across transportation hubs, proving that in our digital age, simple physical gestures still create the most meaningful connections.
