Nairobi, Kenya – August 1, 2025 — The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) has named Hon. Joab Manyasi as its candidate for the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election, signaling a bold push to expand its political footprint in Western Kenya.
The unveiling took place on Friday at DNA’s headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, drawing party leaders, supporters, and political observers from across the country. The ceremony was both symbolic and strategic positioning Manyasi as the face of a movement aiming to shake up politics in Kakamega County.
Manyasi is no stranger to Malava’s political scene. A civil engineer by profession and a known youth advocate, he previously contested the seat in 2017 under Ford Kenya and again in 2022 with ODM. Now, on his third attempt, he returns with what he calls a people-first agenda and a mission to deliver real change.
“I come from the soil of Malava,” he told a cheering crowd. “I have walked the same paths, queued in the same lines, and heard the same empty promises. This time, it’s about voice, dignity, and real development.”
DNA party leader Hon. Godfrey Kanoti praised Manyasi as a symbol of the leadership the party stands for grounded, accountable, and ready to serve.
“We are not just presenting a candidate,” Kanoti said. “We are presenting a new kind of leadership—one that speaks the language of the people.”
The Malava by-election follows a vacancy declared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and is expected later this year.
As the campaign kicks off, DNA has promised to run an issue-driven race, anchored in grassroots engagement and civic education. The event ended with a symbolic handover of the party’s emblem to Manyasi, officially launching his bid.
