This milestone ceremony not only marks HRMPEB’s commitment to raising HR standards but also highlights the growing impact of certified HR professionals on Kenya’s workforce.

The ceremony’s guest of honor, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Justin Muturi, commended the newly certified professionals for their dedication to advancing Kenya’s workforce. “As certified HR professionals, you are not just managers of people; you are stewards of organizational culture and champions of employee well-being,” Muturi stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting HR professionals as key drivers of Kenya’s socio-economic progress.

Speaking at the ceremony, HRMPEB Acting CEO, CHRP Margaret Nguu, celebrated the board’s achievements and the significance of this year’s certification, which includes graduates trained under a newly updated curriculum. “Today, we celebrate not only the success of our graduates but also the resilience of our institution and the steadfast support of our partners, stakeholders, and dedicated team,” said Nguu. This cohort, comprising 159 men and 549 women, represents the diverse talents shaping Kenya’s HR future.

Nguu reflected on HRMPEB’s journey, from a modest beginning to a robust organization, marked by transformative digital upgrades and a new headquarters at Mwalimu Towers. “We’ve achieved key milestones, from developing strategic plans and revising our curriculum to enhancing staff recruitment and relocating to a larger facility,” she said. Each achievement, she noted, has strengthened HRMPEB’s role as a leader in HR certification.

Facing financial constraints and balancing stakeholder interests hasn’t always been easy, but Nguu emphasized the board’s resilience. “Today, we stand stronger because of the hurdles we have overcome, and the caliber of our graduates reflects our dedication to quality,” she remarked.

The ceremony was also a personal milestone for Nguu, marking her final certification event as Acting CEO. Reflecting on her tenure, she shared, “Leading HRMPEB has been a rewarding experience. Seeing the passion and dedication of each graduate fills me with optimism for the future of HR in Kenya.” She encouraged the graduates to carry forward a legacy of integrity, passion, and professionalism.

The event celebrated HRMPEB’s strategic partnerships with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) and the Ministry of Public Service, which have been instrumental in the board’s growth. Nguu highlighted the Ministry’s financial backing and IHRM’s support in maintaining high standards, adding, “Our success would not be possible without the unwavering support of our partners and the dedication of our team.”

HRMPEB’s recent advancements include a new strategic plan, a student portal for streamlined services, and the accreditation of over 50 CHRP training institutions. To provide greater flexibility, the board will offer three examination windows per year starting in 2025, giving aspiring professionals more opportunities to pursue certification.

This certification opens doors for career advancement in diverse sectors where HR roles are vital. Recent accreditation by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) has further boosted the CHRP certification’s global standing, creating international career paths for Kenya’s HR experts.

Closing the event, Nguu reaffirmed HRMPEB’s commitment to Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the G4 agenda, sharing her confidence in the graduates’ potential to impact their fields positively. “HRMPEB is in good hands, and I have no doubt that our best days lie ahead,” she concluded.
