Nairobi, June 4, 2025 – The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) kicked off two significant events today – the commissioning of seven new vehicles and the opening of its 8th Scientific Conference, which has attracted health experts from five countries.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale presided over the flagging-off ceremony for the new double-cabin vehicles, which will enhance the college’s community health training programs. “These vehicles will be crucial in connecting our students with rural health facilities, ensuring they gain vital hands-on experience,” explained KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch. Currently operating in 45 counties, KMTC aims to expand its presence nationwide.
The launch coincided with the opening of KMTC’s biennial scientific conference, running under the theme “Advancing Health Equity in a Rapidly Changing Environment.” This year’s event has drawn a record number of participants, including researchers from Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Hungary, Canada, and the United States.

“With 36 research papers and 11 poster presentations, this conference represents our commitment to evidence-based healthcare solutions,” Dr. Oluoch noted. Cabinet Secretary Duale emphasized the institution’s critical role, stating, “As KMTC trains 85% of Kenya’s middle-level health workforce, we must ensure their education meets the highest standards.”
