Milimani Court Orders Release of Confiscated Goods in Kangemi Hawkers Case

The Milimani Magistrates’ Court has ordered the Officer Commanding Station at Kabete Police Station to release goods confiscated from roadside traders operating outside Kangemi Market.

The order followed a mutual agreement reached by all parties involved in the case.

The seven day order came after a vendor filed an application seeking the release of stalls and merchandise allegedly seized during enforcement operations.

The applicants, led by Wycliff Nyamu on behalf of Kangemi hawkers and Hon. Hamisi Suleiman Maleya, moved to court under a certificate of urgency.

They accused businesswoman Rose Wanja of orchestrating the destruction and confiscation of their stalls during an incident said to have occurred on November 23, 2025.

However, the court questioned the basis of including Wanja in the case.

In its ruling, the court said the applicants failed to establish sufficient accusations against her.

The court further noted that Wanja was not the authority responsible for the enforcement actions complained of.

As a result, the court directed that each party bear its own costs.
