Young people across the country have been urged to take full advantage of government programs designed to improve their economic and social well-being. The message was delivered at an event organized by Olosuashi Tours in Nairobi, where leaders emphasized the importance of youth engagement in securing a better future.
Hezena Lemaletian,nominated senator in the Kenyan Parliament under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), a prominent speaker at the event, encouraged young people to embrace various empowerment initiatives. She highlighted the transformative potential of government-sponsored programs in entrepreneurship, skills development and job creation. “The opportunities are there, but it is up to the youth to step up, get involved and take advantage of them to build sustainable livelihoods,” Lemaletian said.
Echoing her sentiments, Joseph Odupoi, Project Coordinator for Special Programs at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, urged young people to align themselves with the government’s vision for youth empowerment. He emphasized the current administration’s commitment to providing resources that will enable young people to become self-reliant and contribute to national development. “The government is at the forefront of creating opportunities for young people. It is important for the youth to take charge of their future by taking advantage of these initiatives,” Odupoi said.
The event also underscored the importance of collaboration between government agencies and private organizations in supporting youth-led enterprises and skills development programs. Leaders urged young people to stay informed about opportunities and to actively participate in programs that can provide them with the tools they need to succeed.
