The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially handed its nomination certificate to Samuel Muchina Nyagah after he emerged winner in the party primaries for the upcoming Ol Kalou Constituency parliamentary by-election slated for July 16, 2026.

Muchina Nyagah secured 3,221 votes in a tightly contested nomination exercise, narrowly defeating George Wambugu Kanuri, who garnered 3,077 votes during the UDA party primaries held across the constituency.

The victory now sets the stage for a highly anticipated contest between Muchina Nyagah and Sammy Ngotho, who will fly the ticket of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP). Ngotho secured his party’s nomination after winning the DCP primaries conducted on May 9, where he amassed 12,957 votes against several other aspirants seeking the seat.

Speaking shortly after receiving the nomination certificate, Muchina Nyagah thanked the UDA Party and residents of Ol Kalou for entrusting him with the opportunity to represent the party in the by-election. He pledged to run an issue-based campaign focused on addressing the needs of the constituency.

At the same time, UDA Secretary General Omar Hassan Omar expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the upcoming mini-polls. While addressing journalists after overseeing the nomination exercise, Omar said the party was well prepared for the Ol Kalou contest and remained optimistic of victory.

He further noted that UDA was equally focused on the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election, which will also be held on July 16, saying the party was determined to retain and expand its political influence through the two races.

The Ol Kalou parliamentary seat is expected to attract intense political attention in the coming weeks as parties intensify campaigns ahead of the crucial by-election.
