Bic Donates 150,000 Pens To Transform Students’ Learning Experience .

BIC, a world leader in stationery, lighters, and shavers, recently concluded the fifth edition of its flagship initiative, Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen. In collaboration with CFK Africa, the initiative aims to drive a nation-wide movement to help empower students in need and bridge a critical resource gap in Kenyan classrooms. BIC donates one pen for every pen it sells, helping put a pen in the hands of every inhabitant. This year, the initiative impacted 150,000 students across Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, and Kajiado counties.

Commenting on the occasion, Paloma Lengema, General Manager, BIC East Africa, said: “We are proud to be running Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen for the fifth year in Kenya. The initiative is testament to our commitment to the education field and to providing students with the tools they need to help them perform academically. I am delighted to see the impact this initiative has on Kenyan students year-on-year and I am confident that this, and other education driven initiatives we have, will continue to create an impact in the communities in which we operate.”

“Education remains the most powerful tool in transforming lives, and something as simple as a pen can make a meaningful difference in a child’s learning journey,” said Mr. Jeffrey Okoro, Executive Director at CFK Africa. “Our partnership with BIC has enabled us to reach thousands of students who lack basic writing tools. These donations help remove barriers to education and empower children to actively participate in classroom activities, ultimately improving their academic outcomes.

“Expressing their gratitude, Madam Rhoda, headteacher, Arap Moi Primary School, said: “We are grateful to BIC and CFK Africa. Collaborating with like-minded partners that have the interest of students, and their needs in mind is refreshing. Equipping our students with the necessary writing –+tools they need will certainly boost their confidence and allow them to focus on their studies and not worry about resources.”

BIC is committed to improving learning conditions for 250 million students by the year 2025. To date, the company has impacted over 200 million students globally. This commitment stems from BIC’s sustainable development program, Writing the Future Together.

Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen is one of the many education-driven initiatives that BIC runs in Kenya. Express Myself with My BIC Pen is one of the main initiatives in Kenya. Previously known as My Words, My Story, My BIC Pen, the campaign was launched in 2020. To date, the initiative has impacted around 50,000 students, and hundreds of schools and teachers.
