Nairobi, January 29, 2025 – St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies, recently hosted an in-person information session in Nairobi to guide aspiring medical students and their families. The event took place on Friday, January 16, 2025, at Sankara Nairobi and attracted more than 100 participants.

The session offered a clear overview of SGU’s medical education pathways, academic tracks, and student support services. Prospective students engaged directly with SGU representatives and gained insight into the Doctor of Medicine program, including the four-year MD program and the five- and six-year MD tracks.

Participants also heard from a current SGU student, Jamil Moloo, who joined the session live via Zoom from Grenada. He shared first-hand experiences on academic life, campus facilities, and daily life while studying medicine on the island.

Anne-Grace Mbabazi, Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment in Africa at SGU, said the session created a valuable platform to connect with Kenyan students. She noted that the university used the opportunity to explain the MD pathways and engage with students aiming to practice medicine in the US or UK. She added that Kenya remains a key part of SGU’s international community, with many Kenyan doctors having trained at the institution.

SGU alumna Dr. Brigid Midwa also shared her personal journey, highlighting the strong academic and emotional support she received throughout her studies. She said the faculty offered guidance from the first day and remained invested in student success.

The event featured an interactive panel session that allowed attendees to ask questions and engage openly with SGU representatives. The panel included a current SGU student, SGU alumni Dr. Steve Mungai and Dr. Brigid Midwa, as well as a parent representative, Ms. Keizra Moloo.

With over 100 attendees, including students, parents, SGU agents, financial institution representatives, and community leaders, the session reaffirmed SGU’s commitment to supporting future medical professionals in Kenya and across the region.
