What’s New on Showmax This August: Must-Watch Movies and Specials.

NAIROBI, Kenya – August 7, 2025 — Showmax has unveiled a thrilling lineup of fresh releases for August, headlined by award-winning titles and fan favourites spanning drama, horror, comedy, music and animation.

Top of the list is Anora, the Oscar-sweeping romantic drama about a Brooklyn stripper who marries into Russian wealth — and chaos. Also premiering this month is the highly anticipated Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, along with Nosferatu, a gothic horror tale that’s earning rave reviews.

Music fans can stream The Weeknd: Live at SoFi Stadium, while docu-lovers will find emotional depth in My Mom Jayne, which explores the life of Hollywood icon Jayne Mansfield through the eyes of her daughter, Mariska Hargitay.

Other big draws include Lee, featuring Kate Winslet as wartime photojournalist Lee Miller, the raucous comedy Babes, and slasher thriller MaXXXine, the bloody finale to Ti West’s acclaimed horror trilogy. Families can also look forward to Dog Man, the animated hit based on the bestselling book, and White Bird, a heartfelt wartime tale from the creator of Wonder.

Also streaming this month are Flight Risk, a high-altitude thriller with Mark Wahlberg; Flight 149: Hostage of War, a gripping real-life docuseries; and a variety of classics like A Quiet Place, Dreamgirls, and GI Joe sequels.
