Furaha Ngumbao Picked as DCP Flagbearer in Magarini By-Election.
By Peace Muthoka.
It is now official. Furaha Chengo Ngumbao will fly the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) flag in the Magarini Constituency by-election.
The announcement comes after weeks of speculation over who would carry the party’s mantle in a race that is expected to draw wide attention in Kilifi politics. The Magarini seat fell vacant after the courts annulled the 2022 election results, setting the stage for a fresh contest.
Ngumbao received the party’s nomination certificate from DCP Secretary General Hezron Obaga in a lively event that brought together supporters and local leaders. The unveiling sparked excitement on the ground, with residents welcoming the development as a new chapter for the constituency.
For many in Magarini, the by-election is more than a political exercise. It represents a chance to reset the constituency’s leadership and refocus attention on development priorities such as education, healthcare, and opportunities for young people. The entry of Ngumbao into the race has already raised expectations, with his candidacy drawing early momentum within the community.
The DCP team expressed confidence that their candidate embodies the hopes of Magarini, describing the launch as the beginning of a spirited campaign. Supporters broke into chants of “Hii ndio Furaha ya Magarini!” as celebrations carried on late into the afternoon.
With the campaigns now officially underway, Magarini is set to witness weeks of intense political activity as different parties roll out their strategies. All eyes remain on how the contest will shape the political landscape in Kilifi County, where the outcome is expected to have ripple effects beyond the constituency.
