NAIROBI, Kenya, October 30, 2026 — After nearly two decades behind the wheel of a truck, 47-year-old Peter Mwaniki has won KSh102 million in the SportPesa Mega Jackpot, opening a new chapter for the father of four and his family.
Mwaniki became the first winner of the SportPesa Mega Jackpot this year after correctly predicting the outcomes of all 15 matches in the 15/15 jackpot draw held last Sunday.
The truck driver did not initially realise he had won. He only learnt that he had correctly predicted all 15 results after SportPesa contacted him with the news.
For a man who has spent much of his adult life working long hours on the road to provide for his family, the KSh102 million windfall presents an opportunity to improve his family’s financial security and plan for the future.
“I have spent most of my adult life working hard to provide for my family, so this is something I never imagined would happen. My first thoughts were about my wife and children. I want them to have opportunities that perhaps I could not always afford to give them, and to know that their future is more secure,” Mwaniki said.
He added that the money would allow his family to make important decisions and plan for the years ahead.
However, Mwaniki said he would not rush into major decisions following the unexpected win. Instead, he intends to continue working while considering how best to manage the money.
“I don’t have any immediate plans. This came as a surprise, and I don’t want to make any rushed decisions. I’ll continue with my day-to-day job for at least the next five months as I take time to consider my next course of action,” he said.
His decision to maintain his routine, at least for now, comes as he weighs the opportunities presented by the windfall against the need to make careful choices for his family’s long-term future.
Speaking during the winner’s unveiling, SportPesa Head of Marketing Esther Kange’the said Mwaniki’s story reflected the personal significance of the Mega Jackpot and the years of hard work behind his win.

“Every jackpot winner has a unique story, and Peter’s is particularly special. Behind the KSh102 million prize is a father who has spent years working to provide for his family. We recognise what this moment means to him and those who depend on him, and we hope he uses this opportunity to make thoughtful decisions that will benefit his family for years to come,” Kange’the said.
She described the win as a significant moment for the competition, congratulating Mwaniki and wishing him and his family well as they begin a new chapter.
“The Mega Jackpot remains one of our flagship products, and it is always a significant moment when someone correctly predicts all the results and claims the top prize. We congratulate Peter and wish him and his family the very best as they begin this new chapter,” she added.
Mwaniki was unveiled alongside Caroline Nyakundi and Gaudencia Sella, who won KSh2.19 million and KSh3.5 million, respectively, in Mega Jackpot bonuses.
Their wins highlighted the competition’s different prize categories, while Mwaniki’s KSh102 million prize marked the emergence of the year’s first top jackpot winner.
