AA Kenya Pushes for Safer Roads with “Msamaria Mwema” Campaign and Medical Camp in Nakuru

Nakuru,14 November 2025 – AA Kenya has launched the Msamaria Mwema Road Safety Campaign and Medical Camp at Railways Stage in Nakuru County as the country prepares to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on 16 November 2025. The event comes at a time when road accidents along the Northern Corridor continue to claim lives, making the initiative both urgent and necessary.

To set the tone for the two-day campaign, the AA Kenya team visited Sachangwan, a stretch long associated with deadly accidents. Here, they laid wreaths in honour of the victims, a solemn reminder of the human toll of negligence on the roads. The moment also reinforced the need for consistent and coordinated action to prevent further tragedies.

The campaign has already attracted more than 600 participants. They include PSV drivers, long-distance truckers, boda boda riders, and hailing cab operators. Throughout the program, they receive defensive driving lessons, first-aid certification, and medical screening. This training prepares them to act quickly and confidently as first responders during emergencies.

Participants also benefit from a wide range of services. These include eye, dental, ENT, and general wellness checks, as well as mental health and fatigue-management awareness. NTSA officers are on site to guide drivers on licensing, compliance, and safe driving practices. In addition, financial literacy and insurance education are offered to promote economic stability among transport workers.

Speaking at the launch, County Traffic Enforcement Officer and Chairman of CTOs, Mr. Allan Ogola, underscored the value of preparing motorists to handle emergencies. “Empowering drivers with life-saving knowledge is critical. Every accident prevented is a life saved,” he said.

AA Kenya Group Managing Director, Francis Theuri, emphasized the wider social and economic impact of the campaign. He noted, “Road safety is a shared responsibility. Training drivers costs far less than the burials, hospital bills, and trauma that follow road crashes. Msamaria Mwema reflects our commitment to saving lives and reducing suffering.”

NTSA Nakuru Regional Manager, John Jinja Parteroi, echoed this message, stressing the importance of joint efforts. “Collaboration among road safety stakeholders ensures greater compliance, awareness, and accountability along our roads,” he said.

The campaign has received strong support from CBM, Mololine Services Limited, Prestige Shuttle, Highway Luxury, Molo Group, Moline Luxury, Moline Limited, Nyakati, Nyamakima, 2NK, and several other SACCOs. Their involvement underlines the transport sector’s growing commitment to safer and more responsible road use.

For many participants, the experience is not only informative but transformative. Boda boda rider Peter Mwangi shared his excitement after the training. “The first-aid training gives me confidence to help accident victims. I never realized how small actions can save lives,” he said.

AA Kenya is urging all motorists to embrace safe driving habits, follow traffic regulations, and prioritize responsibility on every journey. The message is clear: safer roads are possible when everyone plays their part.
