Nairobi, April 2026 — St. George’s University School of Medicine has announced that more than 800 of its students and graduates have secured residency positions across the United States in this year’s Match cycle.

The placements cut across 23 specialties in 42 states and the District of Columbia. More graduates are expected to secure slots in the coming weeks as the process continues.

“Match Day is a pivotal milestone at the start of a doctor’s career,” said Dr. Marios Loukas, President of St. George’s University and Dean of the School of Medicine. He said the achievement marks the beginning of a journey to serve patients and communities.

Graduates will now begin training in a wide range of fields. These include competitive specialties such as surgery and neurology, as well as key primary care areas like pediatrics, emergency medicine, and family medicine. Many are expected to return to serve their home communities.

Among those who matched is Kenyan graduate Dr. Brigid Midwa from the Class of 2025, who secured a position in Internal Medicine in New Jersey. Her success reflects the growing contribution of globally trained doctors to the US healthcare system.

“Matching into residency is a defining moment for me,” she said. “SGU prepared me across different healthcare settings, giving me confidence for this next step. I hope to gain specialized skills and later bring this expertise back to Kenya.”

For the past 12 years, St. George’s University has remained a leading provider of new doctors to the US healthcare system. About two-thirds of its graduates join primary care, with many serving in underserved areas.

The university says the latest cohort is set to make a strong impact in communities across the United States.
