TotalEnergies Kenya Unveils New Generation Card to Transform Mobility Payments

By Staff Reporter

NAIROBI, Kenya, September 10, 2026 — TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya has introduced a new generation of its mobility card, giving businesses, fleet managers and individual motorists greater control over fuel spending through digital payments, real-time transaction monitoring and enhanced security features.

The New Generation TotalEnergies Card is designed to make it easier for customers to manage mobility-related expenses while improving visibility over transactions and simplifying tax-compliant invoicing.

The launch marks the latest step in the evolution of a product that has served Kenyan motorists and businesses for more than 25 years. Initially introduced as the Bon Voyage Fuel Card, it was the first fuel card in Kenya and among the first to incorporate chip technology to strengthen transaction security.

Since then, the card has evolved beyond fuel payments into a broader mobility solution as customers increasingly seek convenient digital tools to manage their transport and operational costs.

TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya Managing Director Thibault Flichy said businesses were looking for greater oversight of fuel expenditure as operating costs continue to rise.

“Businesses today need greater visibility and control over their fuel expenditure than traditional payment methods can provide,” Flichy said.

He said the new card responds to this demand by bringing secure digital payments, real-time transaction monitoring and simplified tax compliance together on one platform.

According to Flichy, the solution is intended to help businesses make better decisions while improving oversight of one of their major operating expenses.

A major change in the new system is the introduction of two cardless payment options, allowing customers to move away from dependence on physical cards.

One option is Mobility Pay, a mobile application that enables customers to make payments digitally. The second is a virtual card that uses one-time passwords and is designed to work with phones that do not have internet connectivity.

The new system also introduces real-time SMS and email alerts, allowing customers to receive immediate notifications of transactions and potential anomalies.

For fleet managers and businesses, an enhanced customer portal provides real-time visibility of accounts and transactions, together with controls that allow users to set and monitor spending limits.

The card also comes with a pre-authorisation mode designed to improve control over the amount of fuel dispensed at service stations.

Security has been strengthened through the use of PIN codes, RFID vehicle tags and one-time passwords for the mobile application and virtual card.

At the same time, the platform provides simplified tax-compliant invoicing, helping businesses manage documentation associated with their fuel and mobility expenses.

The card can be used across the TotalEnergies service station network for eligible products and services, giving customers a wider range of locations where they can access the solution.

TotalEnergies said the combination of digital payments, transaction alerts, account monitoring and security controls would give customers a more seamless way of managing their mobility needs.

The shift towards cardless payments could also reduce customers’ reliance on physical plastic cards while offering greater flexibility to motorists and businesses.

For fleet operators in particular, the digital tools provide an opportunity to monitor spending more closely, identify unusual transactions and exercise greater control over fuel consumption.

The new system is also expected to serve individual motorists, alongside businesses of different sizes, as TotalEnergies seeks to broaden the use of technology in everyday mobility.

Customers can apply for the New Generation TotalEnergies Card through TotalEnergies Kenya’s website, while matatu and boda boda operators can apply at TotalEnergies service stations across the country.

The launch comes as businesses increasingly look for ways to improve operational efficiency and manage rising costs through technology.

For TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya, the new card represents a shift from the traditional fuel-card model towards an integrated mobility and payment platform that combines convenience, security and financial visibility.

The company said the initiative reflects its continued focus on developing technology-driven solutions that respond to the changing needs of Kenyan motorists and businesses.

TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya has operated in the country since 1955 and markets energy products and solutions while providing fleet-management services through its card platform.

Globally, TotalEnergies operates as an integrated energy company across oil and biofuels, natural gas, biogas, low-carbon hydrogen, renewable energy and electricity, with operations in about 120 countries.

The company said sustainability remains central to its strategy as it works to provide more reliable, affordable and increasingly sustainable energy solutions.
