NAIROBI, Kenya — St. Andrew’s School, Turi has entered into a new academic affiliation with St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, opening a structured pathway for students who aspire to pursue careers in medicine.
The partnership is designed to give eligible students from St. Andrew’s Turi easier access to SGU’s admissions process while exposing them to international medical education through academic and career development initiatives. The collaboration also reflects both institutions’ commitment to preparing students for professional careers in healthcare through global learning opportunities.
Under the affiliation, SGU will support students through webinars, clinical workshops, in-person events and one-on-one advisory sessions that will help them better understand medical training, admissions requirements and life as medical students. The engagement aims to equip learners with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their academic and career paths.
Students from St. Andrew’s Turi who secure admission to SGU may also qualify for a partial scholarship, a guaranteed admissions interview and membership in the SGU Global Medic Club, an online platform that provides curated academic resources and learning materials for aspiring doctors.
Founded in 1931, St. Andrew’s School, Turi is one of Kenya’s leading independent boarding schools, offering a British curriculum that prepares students for IGCSE and A-Level examinations. The school has consistently placed graduates in leading universities across the United Kingdom, North America and other international destinations, supported by a well-established university counselling programme that guides students pursuing competitive careers, including medicine.
Mike Field, Head of Careers at St. Andrew’s School, Turi, said the partnership strengthens the school’s commitment to helping students make informed choices about their future.
“This affiliation represents an important addition to the guidance we provide our students as they consider competitive professional pathways such as medicine. At St. Andrew’s Turi, we are committed to ensuring that our learners and their families have access to transparent, accurate information about international medical education options.”
He added that working closely with SGU would give students structured engagement, greater clarity on medical programmes and earlier exposure to the academic expectations required for entry into medical school.
SGU’s Assistant Director for International Academic Affiliates, Aurelie Lily Phommarack, said the university looks forward to supporting students as they prepare for careers in medicine.
“We are pleased to formalize our affiliation with St. Andrew’s Turi and to support its students as they explore careers in medicine. Through this collaboration, students will gain early insight into our Doctor of Medicine programme and the opportunity to train within a global clinical network of affiliated hospitals and health centres.”
She noted that SGU works with secondary schools around the world to provide aspiring doctors with structured guidance and a clearer understanding of the academic preparation needed for medical education.
The new affiliation reinforces the shared commitment of both institutions to academic excellence, international collaboration and developing the next generation of healthcare professionals by giving students greater access to global medical education pathways.
