Makueni Huduma Centre Extends Operating Hours to Improve Access to Government Services

MAKUENI, Kenya — Residents of Makueni will now enjoy longer access to government services after Huduma Kenya announced that the Makueni Huduma Centre will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., effective Monday, July 20, 2026.
The move makes Makueni the 21st Huduma Centre in the country to adopt extended operating hours as part of the government’s efforts to improve access to essential public services and accommodate citizens who are unable to visit during the regular 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. working day.
According to Huduma Kenya, the extended hours are designed to meet the unique needs of Makueni residents, many of whom earn their livelihoods through farming, horticulture and small-scale trade. The new schedule will allow farmers to access government services before heading to their farms, while traders and horticultural producers can visit the centre in the evening after completing their daily business.
The initiative is expected to reduce time constraints that have previously prevented many residents from accessing services, while making it easier for working citizens to obtain government documents and other public services without interrupting their economic activities.
Huduma Kenya said the expansion of extended service hours to 21 centres across the country reflects the government’s commitment to delivering inclusive, efficient and citizen-centred public services.
Residents of Makueni and neighbouring areas have been encouraged to take advantage of the new operating hours by visiting the Huduma Centre between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, for convenient access to a wide range of government services.
