Nairobi, October 10, 2025 — Wiper Party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has officially declared his bid for the presidency in the 2027 General Election, promising to restore dignity, hope, and justice to a country he says has been “betrayed by poor leadership.”

Speaking before thousands of supporters at Uhuru Park during the Wiper National Delegates Conference, Kalonzo said he was deeply humbled by the endorsement and vowed to lead a people-driven government focused on honesty, equality, and prosperity.

“With a deep sense of duty and high resolve, I accept your nomination to be your presidential candidate for 2027,” he said. “I do so with a full and grateful heart and a firm resolve to lead this Patriotic Front to victory and rebuild our beloved nation.”

Kalonzo thanked his family for their unwavering support, describing his wife Pauline as “a pillar of strength.” He accused President William Ruto’s administration of overtaxing citizens, collapsing industries, and turning youth dreams into despair.

“Our people are overburdened, our hospitals are broken, and our economy is bleeding,” he said. “This is not taxation for development — it is taxation for survival.”

He pledged to lower the cost of living, create jobs, and ensure education and healthcare for all. “No child will be denied education because of poverty,” he said. “Our administration will run on innovation and integrity, not corruption and coercion.”

Speaking at the event, DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua, affirmed their shared commitment to offering a credible alternative rooted in integrity and respect for the rule of law.

“The United Opposition remains steadfast in its commitment to providing an alternative government dedicated to upholding Kenya’s Constitution, rooted in integrity, and free from corruption and extrajudicial killings,” Gachagua said. “Our vision is to restore the dignity of the Kenyan people and infuse sobriety into government institutions.”

He added that the coalition, which includes Fred Matiang’i, Justin Muturi, Eugene Wamalwa, and Martha Karua, will stand behind one candidate at the ballot. “We are united and determined to deliver a just, accountable, and prosperous Kenya. I congratulate my brother Kalonzo Musyoka on his endorsement as Wiper’s presidential flag bearer.”

Former Vice President Kalonzo also used the moment to call for national renewal, saying Kenya must rise above politics of division. “We will rebuild this nation together with compassion, justice, and honesty,” he said.

Urbanus Wambua, a Wiper official from Kibwezi West, praised the show of unity among opposition leaders and confirmed that Kalonzo would fly the coalition flag in 2027.

“Today marks a new dawn for Kenya,” he said. “The opposition has spoken with one voice we have one candidate, Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. Our mission is to restore the soul of this nation and free Kenyans from the chains of economic pain.”

He dismissed claims of division in the Eastern region, saying Ukambani was firmly behind Kalonzo. “Those who skipped the event have shown where they stand. Eastern is united behind Kalonzo and ready to deliver victory.”

As chants of “Komboa Kenya! Wantam!” echoed across Uhuru Park, Kalonzo urged Kenyans to register to vote, saying change would only come through the ballot.

“The time for excuses is over,” he said. “When we rise together, no mountain is too high. Kenya will rise again.”
