Octagon Africa Opens Mombasa Office to Expand Access to Financial Services at the Coast

By Peace Muthoka

MOMBASA, Kenya — Octagon Africa Financial Services has opened a new office in Mombasa in a move aimed at bringing retirement planning, insurance and investment solutions closer to individuals, employers and businesses in the coastal region.

The office, located on the ninth floor of Epic Business Centre, will strengthen the firm’s engagement with customers as it expands its presence in Kenya and seeks to support long-term financial security for individuals, families and businesses.

The expansion comes as employers continue to consider employee benefits and retirement arrangements, while individuals and businesses face decisions on saving, investment, wealth creation and financial security.

Speaking during the opening on Tuesday, October 13, Octagon Africa Group Chief Executive Officer Fred Waswa said the new office was a strategic step in the company’s plans to expand its operations across Kenya.

“Mombasa is a fast-growing city in Kenya, and we would like to be part of this growth,” Waswa said.

He noted that the Coast region’s diverse economy offered opportunities for the company to serve clients across several sectors, including trade, tourism, hospitality, logistics, manufacturing, oil, professional services and small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to Waswa, businesses in these sectors have varying financial needs, ranging from retirement planning and employee benefits to insurance, investment and wealth preservation.

The new office is expected to bring the company closer to these businesses and their employees, making it easier for them to engage with the firm on financial services and long-term planning.

The expansion also builds on Octagon Africa’s partnership with Alexforbes, which the company sees as an important part of its growth strategy and efforts to strengthen its employee benefits and financial services offering.

Through the partnership, Octagon Africa’s local market presence and customer relationships will be combined with Alexforbes’ employee benefits and financial services capabilities to serve employers and individuals.

Alexforbes Chief Commercial Officer Craig Bentley said the opening reflected the organisation’s commitment to extending its financial solutions to clients in the coastal region.

“This move aligns with Alexforbes’ objective to offer opportunities and growth across the African region, and strategically into specific markets such as Kenya, while at the same time reinforcing key relationships with our key partners such as Octagon Africa,” Bentley said.

The collaboration is expected to create opportunities for both organisations to engage more closely with businesses, explore new markets and develop solutions that respond to the changing needs of employers, workers and the wider business community.

For employers, access to employee benefits and retirement solutions can form part of efforts to plan for their workers’ long-term financial well-being. Individuals, meanwhile, need options that can support their retirement preparedness, investment decisions and efforts to preserve wealth.

Octagon Africa’s entry into the coastal market is part of its broader ambition to expand its regional presence, diversify its services and strengthen relationships with customers.

The company also aims to encourage greater participation in formal financial solutions and improve awareness of retirement and investment planning.

With the Mombasa office now open, Octagon Africa is seeking to deepen its engagement with the Coast’s business community and make its financial services more accessible to customers in the region.
