Nairobi, October 1, 2025 – Prudential Life Kenya has announced a Ksh. 10 million sponsorship for the 5KM Family Run at this year’s Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon. The insurer will also serve as the official life insurer of the day, ensuring participants feel confident and protected as they focus on reaching the finish line.

This year’s sponsorship marks the third consecutive time Prudential is supporting the family race, reinforcing its long-term commitment to health, protection, and building stronger communities.

“We chose to sponsor the Family Run because it aligns with our vision of promoting healthier lifestyles through active living,” said Prudential Kenya CEO Gwen Kinisu. “The 5KM run goes beyond being a race—it allows parents, children, and loved ones to run side by side, making it a true celebration of family and community. Beyond that, it is also an opportunity to support the incredible work being done through Futuremakers, an initiative of Standard Chartered Bank.”

Standard Chartered Bank welcomed the partnership, noting that Prudential’s contribution adds significant value to the event. “This financial sponsorship from Prudential Life for the 5KM Family Fun Run will go a long way in executing the marathon and supporting wellness and active lifestyles for families, in addition to providing comprehensive insurance coverage for participants,” said Joyce Kibe, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Kenya and Africa.

She added that with Ksh. 130 million already committed by the Bank, this year’s marathon aims to deliver an outstanding race experience while driving greater social impact milestones through the Futuremakers Initiative and contributing positively to the economy.

Futuremakers is a global program by Standard Chartered Bank that empowers young people with skills and opportunities for a better future. So far, the initiative has empowered more than 90,000 girls with life skills through sports, supported over 54,000 youth with employability and entrepreneurship opportunities, and created 1,380 jobs through supported businesses.

Scheduled for October 26, 2025, the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon remains Kenya’s largest single-day sporting event, drawing professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and families from across the country.
