Luo Professionals Call for Inclusive Leadership, Fast-Track Reforms and 2027 Readiness

Professionals from the Luo community have called for inclusive leadership, swift reforms and strategic political engagement as Kenya navigates a delicate national moment.

Speaking on Tuesday at a forum in Nairobi, the professionals said the country needs visionary leadership that puts national interest first. They said Kenya stands at a crossroads that demands unity, competence and decisive action.

They argued that Kenya’s growth has stalled because professional expertise remains outside core decision-making. As a result, they urged the deliberate inclusion of engineers, doctors, economists, lawyers, technologists and scholars in governance.

They said the time for commentary has passed. Instead, professionals must step forward and take responsibility in nation-building. They pledged readiness to serve and deliver solutions, not just ideas.

At the same time, the group welcomed the broad-based governance framework initiated by President William Ruto and the late Raila Odinga. They described it as a practical path to national healing and political stability.

According to the professionals, the framework offers a chance to address long-standing exclusion. They stressed that it should not be seen as political compromise but as mature leadership anchored in the national interest.

They also raised concern over delays in implementing the 10-point agenda signed in March 2025. The agenda, they said, remains critical to restoring public trust and strengthening democracy.

They pointed to key issues that require urgent action. These include the full implementation of the NADCO report, inclusivity in public appointments and protection of devolution.

They also cited youth economic empowerment, integrity in leadership, debt management and the fight against corruption. In addition, they called for the protection of constitutional rights and compensation for victims of protests.

The professionals warned that further delays risk weakening confidence in governance. For them, implementing the agenda remains the most meaningful way to honour Raila Odinga’s legacy.

They urged the committee overseeing the process to speed up its work through inclusive stakeholder engagement.

On political stability, the group called for unity within ODM. They said discipline and coherence are key to strengthening the party as a national force.

Beyond party lines, they supported principled dialogue with UDA and other political formations. They said coalition-building remains vital for stability and long-term development.

Looking ahead to 2027, the professionals urged strong political mobilisation. They called on eligible citizens to register as voters and participate actively in shaping the country’s future.

They said voter registration and engagement are the foundation of political empowerment. Now, they added, is the time to act.

As they concluded, the professionals reflected on their community’s long history of sacrifice. They said the future lies not in grievance but in strategic action.

They pledged smart, unified engagement with political power to deliver development, justice and opportunity for all Kenyans.

Their message, they said, is one of urgency. Kenya needs courage in decision-making, wisdom in unity and immediate action on agreed reforms.
