Echo Network Africa Foundation has launched a new initiative to promote science and technology among girls, unveiling mobile laboratories that will be distributed to ten schools across the country.
The event, held at the Foundation’s offices, brought together various education stakeholders to witness the official rollout of the Girls’ Excel Initiative & STEM, a program championing the inclusion of young girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
In partnership with the School Equipment Production Unit (SEPU), the Foundation will equip schools with mobile laboratories designed to enhance hands-on learning in science subjects. The labs are expected to help bridge the gap in access to practical science education, particularly in underserved areas.
Speaking during the launch, Echo Network Africa keaders emphasized the importance of exposing girls to practical STEM experiences early, noting that empowering them in these fields is key to unlocking innovation and sustainable development.
“This initiative is about more than just equipment. It’s about opening up possibilities and changing mindsets,” a Foundation official said. “We want girls to know that they belong in labs, in tech, and in the frontlines of innovation.”
The mobile labs will begin reaching schools immediately, with training sessions also planned to support teachers and ensure the facilities are effectively used.
With this bold step, Echo Network Africa hopes to spark a lasting interest in STEM among girls and build a more inclusive future in science and technology.
