Lavington Residents, Students Raise Alarm Over Late-Night Noise from Entertainment Joints

Nairobi, September 30, 2026 – Residents and students living in Lavington have called on authorities to take action against entertainment joints accused of generating excessive noise and disrupting the peace of the neighbourhood, with complaints that the disturbances often continue beyond midnight.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the residents expressed concern over the growing noise from entertainment establishments in the area, saying the disturbances have become a source of frustration for people living and studying nearby.
They appealed to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Nairobi City County and other relevant agencies to enforce existing noise pollution regulations and hold establishments that violate them accountable.
The residents said the situation requires urgent attention to protect the community’s right to a peaceful environment, particularly for those who need to rest, study or attend to their daily responsibilities.
Their concerns centre on the impact of late-night entertainment activities on the surrounding community, with noise reportedly extending well beyond midnight and affecting residents in their homes.
The call for enforcement places renewed focus on the responsibility of entertainment businesses to operate within the law while respecting the welfare of neighbouring communities.
