Aspiring Senator Levi Mulase unveils bold plan for Busia’s economic revival

Nairobi, April 23, 2026 — Busia senatorial aspirant Levi Mulase has declared his bid, promising to drive economic transformation and expand opportunities for young people through a new political movement he says is already gaining ground nationwide.
Mulase, an affiliate of the newly registered People’s Renaissance Movement, described the party as a fresh force anchored on ideas rather than personalities. He said the movement, though newly formed, is ready to influence Kenya’s political and economic direction.
He compared the party to a child born strong and ready to run, noting that it will quickly establish itself across the country. He said the movement seeks to unite Kenyans under a shared vision of economic renewal and stronger democracy.
Mulase urged Kenyans to join the party, saying it provides space for new thinking and practical solutions to national challenges. He added that the party is focused on driving economic revival while strengthening democratic systems.
At the same time, he called on young people to take an active role in politics. He said political parties remain key platforms where leadership is nurtured and ideas are shaped. He challenged the youth to move from the sidelines and participate in building the country’s future.
Turning to his agenda for Busia County, Mulase outlined plans to transform the region from a transit hub into a vibrant economic zone. He said the county’s border position offers untapped opportunities that can boost growth and create jobs.
He highlighted the challenges facing fishermen, who often sell their fish to middlemen due to lack of cold storage facilities. Mulase said he will push for investment in storage and value addition to increase earnings and expand market access.
He also pledged to support farmers, especially in Bunyala, by promoting the establishment of rice milling industries within the county. He said local processing will reduce transport costs, create jobs, and improve farmers’ incomes.
Mulase added that strengthening local industries will also drive infrastructure growth and boost the county’s economy. He maintained that his focus will remain on practical solutions that directly improve the livelihoods of residents.
As the next election cycle draws closer, his entry into the race reflects a growing wave of young leaders seeking to reshape governance through policy-driven leadership and grassroots economic empowerment.
